Diamond Condenser Cutaway

FIG 3.0: CVD DIAMOND CONDENSER INTERFACE

The Bottleneck: Flash evaporation releases vapor rapidly. If the condenser cannot absorb that heat fast enough, back-pressure builds and the cycle stalls. Condenser speed is the rate-limiting step in any flash distillation system.

The Solution: CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) synthetic diamond condenser surfaces, with thermal conductivity exceeding 2,000 W/m·K—approximately five times copper.

Diamond's high thermal conductivity means heat arriving at the condensation surface spreads across the entire fin array rapidly, preventing local hot spots that would re-evaporate collected condensate. Combined with hydrophobic surface engineering for rapid droplet shedding (dropwise condensation), this enables the fast cycle times that make high-frequency flash distillation practical.
